The U.S. Army has appointed Paul Puckett the first director of its Enterprise Cloud Management Office (ECMO) within the Army’s office of the CIO, effective Nov. 25.  He was Chief Technology Officer for Federal at Pivotal Software, a cloud platform and consulting company.

Puckett’s new position marks his return to the public sector. Before his tenure at Pivotal, Puckett spent nearly six years at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in IT leadership roles. The Army’s announcement of Puckett’s hiring praises his work in cloud migrations, strategy, architecture development, and security.

As director of ECMO, Puckett is tasked with leading the vision and delivery of cloud services to turn information into a strategic asset for the service branch. Standing up the ECMO is a key Fiscal Year 2020 priority, and removes barriers to entry for application and data owners within Army, said CIO Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford.
