The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is looking at robotic process automation (RPA) technologies to help with determination of responsibility in agency IT contracts, according to a request for information released November 1. Responses are due by November 15.

The RFI notes that VA’s Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) aims to run a pilot to use RPA to collect contractor information from a variety of systems, assess completeness, and flag any negative findings associated with a contractor. VA specifically notes the desire to move from low-value to high-value work.

“The VA TAC intends to pilot a solution to a limited number of users for validation. Upon successful pilot, the solution should be rolled out to a user group of about 150 contracting employees,” the RFI states.

The department is specifically looking for software-as-a-service to perform the RPA that is compatible with the System for Award Management, the Federal Awardee Performance Integrity Information System, Dun and Bradstreet numbers, and other systems.
