The United States Postal Service (USPS) has appointed Michael Billingsley as the new director for Cybersecurity Engineering for the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

Billingsley has been a long-time employee of the USPS, working with the agency for over a decade. He held various positions at the agency, dating back to July 2010, when he joined the agency as an economist. Most recently, he served as the director of Retail and Delivery Transformation – a position he held for a year until assuming his new role in May 2022.

In his new role, Billingsley will work with his team on cybersecurity processes and technology implementations, which improve security through asset visibility and protection, boundary protection, and data security.

Alongside his team, Billingsley will also deliver security visibility and automation for the enterprise, including on-prem and cloud services.

Billingsley earned a bachelor’s in economics and later a master’s in applied economics from the University of Maryland. Later, he attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he concentrated on analytics, blockchain, web3, cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, and finance. He eventually earned his Master of Business Administration from MIT.
