The U.S. Army Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) has selected Bill Hepworth to serve as the program executive officer (PEO). He took over the position at an Army ceremony on Jan. 26 – replacing Ross Guckert who is retiring after 34 years of service.
As the new PEO, Hepworth will be tasked with overseeing 37 acquisition programs that help support the Department of Defense’s (DoD) logistics, medical, finance, personnel, training and procurement systems for every domain, branch, unit, and soldier in the Army.
“Mr. Hepworth’s deep knowledge of IT and industry best practices will ensure he continues the PEO’s tradition of technical expertise and strong and effective leadership,” said Douglas Bush, assistant secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology.
Before his promotion, Hepworth had served as the deputy program executive officer at the PEO EIS, a recoveryTrac technical product manager for tetra tech for over two years, and a director at Blackstone Federal.
“Enterprise information systems usually happen and run behind the scenes,” said Bush. “Those of us who aren’t using them every day don’t think about them, but they affect all of us — how we get paid, how we run the Army, how we collect data, how we make sure that the basic functions of the Army happen.
“That’s the mission of EIS … Someone has to do the difficult, diligent work to do these things well, to make them secure, so they can do what they need to do for the Army, so the Army can do what the nation requires of it. And that’s a huge task and a huge responsibility,” added Bush.
