The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has issued a Federal Register Notice to find people interested in serving on the board of the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority Board).

In a press release, the NTIA explained that the board works closely with the FirstNet Authority management and is responsible for providing overall policy direction and strategic guidance.

The FirstNet Authority is responsible for the deployment and operation of the FirstNet Network, which is a nationwide, interoperable public safety broadband network, based on a single, national network architecture.

The notice said that this year there are 11 board seats with expiring terms, making seats available for new appointments and reappointments of existing Board members for a three-year term.

NTIA said that board candidates should have deep experience and expertise in one or more of the statutory qualifications that impact the network: public safety, network, technical, and financial. The board will be comprised of individuals from all public safety disciplines as well as the private sector.

Interested parties must reply by Feb. 2, 2024.
