The General Services Administration (GSA) and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) have teamed up to establish an Electronic Records Management (ERM) market research tool that will allow agencies to more easily identify vendor services to meet their needs.
The tool offers information on vendors that are sorted into different records types that are accessed through the GSA’s Discovery Site. The records types include:
- Desktop Applications;
- Electronic Messages;
- Social Media;
- Cloud Services;
- Digital Media (Audio, Photo, and Video);
- Shared Services; and
- Engineering Drawings.
GSA’s Integrated Workplace Acquisition Center incorporated the ERM requirements into a Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) 36 as SIN 51 600.
“SIN 51 600 provides a comprehensive capability to solve the complex challenges posed by the movement, manipulation, archiving, security, and management of electronic records,” the Discovery website states. By using the MAS, agencies see contractors that are already vetted, discounted pricing with pre-negotiated terms and conditions, and contractors that have already certified that they are “capable of meeting NARA’s ERM requirements.”
“The abilities to maintain records securely, manage access and retrieval, preserve records for as long as necessary, and execute disposition are included,” the Discovery site says. “This SIN also includes any ancillary supplies and/or services necessary to provide a total electronic records management solution.”
