The Marine Corps Systems Command sent out a request for information on January 7, looking for help in migrating applications from on-prem to commercial cloud environments. Responses are due by January 23. “The current roadmap for the Marine Corps migration to a cloud environment includes the closure of multiple on premises data centers that support multiple portfolios of applications. In order for the Marine Corps to realize the cost and operational benefits of cloud computing, it must conduct a migration that appropriately rationalizes a portfolio,” the RFI notes. The Marine Corps has a wide set of questions for potential vendors, including methodology in moving to cloud, metrics for success, and processes to speed up rationalization and migration.
