The General Services Administration (GSA) is working with the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) Office of the Federal CIO to finalize the launch date of its modernized Federal IT Dashboard, which is now being targeted for a mid-March debut.

A GSA spokesperson told MeriTalk today that the dashboard launch will likely come following the fiscal year (FY) Capital Planning and Investment Control submission window closing. Dashboard data will not be available in the interim.

“An internal launch occurred in September 2021, and GSA looks forward to the public launch that is targeted for mid-March,” the spokesperson said.

OMB’s legacy IT dashboard was created in 2009 by the OFCIO, but that system relied on outdated technology – leading to growing maintenance costs and performance issues. This new dashboard is meant to use modern development practices, ensuring an easy-to-use site.

The new dashboard was also developed by using human-centered design (HCD), which aligns with President Biden’s executive order (EO) on Transforming Federal Customer Experience as it places GSA’s users’ “abilities, needs, and preferences at the center of the development process.”

GSA’s teams have worked on the dashboard project with a broad group of stakeholders, identified opportunities for improvement via surveys and interviews, tested feedback with wireframes and mockups, and incorporated U.S. Web Design System and accessibility standards.
