Version 17.0 of the FITARA Scorecard is set for release on Thursday, Feb. 1, to be followed by a roundtable discussion on the new agency IT scores led by Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va. – who is ranking member of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation – with participation from several large Federal agency officials.
The scorecard grades the 24 largest Federal government agencies for improvements in a range of IT and cybersecurity-related categories, and it has been credited with saving the government billions of dollars by driving efficiencies in how agencies deploy and use technology.
The scheduled release of the latest scorecard on Thursday morning marks the second time Rep. Connolly has held a FITARA Roundtable for that purpose – a departure from the typical procedure, in which the House Oversight and Reform Committee releases the scorecard, and then its government technology-focused subcommittee holds a formal hearing to discuss the results.
Rep. Connolly’s FITARA Roundtable event is set for 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Gold Room of the Rayburn House Office Building.
The roundtable session will include representatives from the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Rep. Connolly held a similar roundtable for version 16.0 of the FITARA Scorecard in September, in which one-third of the 24 Federal CFO Act agencies earned higher grades.
In the 16th edition, eight agencies saw their overall grades improve by one full grading letter, while the other 16 agencies hung steady with their grades from the 15th edition of the scorecard released in December 2022. No agency earned a lower grade, and none received worse than a “C” grade overall.
