The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) intends to publish on Tuesday a final rule in the Federal Register updating regulations in order to give the agency’s CIO “a significant role in advancing the commission’s overall information technology capabilities.” The FCC CIO will play a larger part in: annual and multiyear planning, budgeting, management, and oversight of IT programs; hiring IT personnel; and approval authority over IT budget line items. The update to the agency’s rules will not be subjected to the Congressional Review Act.
