The Department of Interior (DOI) is seeking to acquire a new cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) electronic records management system from a commercial provider.

The new SaaS will replace DOI’s current eMail & Enterprise Records and Document Management System as the current cloud-based system.

In acquiring this new cloud service, DOI wants to be able to move to “100 percent electronic records management by the end of 2022.” It also wants to ensure that records retrieval and production is consistent across DOI for the purposes of litigation, congressional oversight, and Freedom of Information Act requests.

Additionally, the new service should implement “simplified, standardized records retention schedules across the DOI.” In terms of emails, the new cloud-based system must be able to “automatically classify content within the framework of the Departmental Records Schedule” that meets DOI’s needs.

The request for information from DOI has a response date of Nov. 21, 2019
