The Department of Defense (DoD) is updating its repository for enterprise data, which will now be able to support multiple information systems for the DoD’s defense business enterprise.

The Defense Repository for Common Enterprise Data (DRCED) will support additional information systems established in the DoD using “records on various individuals, including active and retired Military Service personnel, their dependents, DoD civilian personnel, and other DoD-affiliated individuals,” the Pentagon said.

According to the notice published on the Federal Register, the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) initially established the DRCED to support a single information system, not multiple systems.

The new, expanded system of records will “provide DoD-wide and component-level enterprise solutions for integrating and analyzing targeted data from existing DoD systems to develop timely, actionable, and insightful conclusions in support of national strategies,” the notice states.

Additionally, the DoD is proposing a notice to exempt the DRCED from certain provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974. The system’s number will be changing from DUSDC 01 to DoD 0004, to “reflect its status as a DoD-wide system of records.”
