The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) will demonstrate biometric technologies at the Maryland Test Facility in Upper Marlboro, Md., on May 16.

S&T said its goal in hosting the Biometric Technology Rally is “to foster innovation, create partnerships across government and industry, and test concepts to meet challenging DHS operational needs.”

The first Biometric Technology Rally S&T hosted was in March 2018, and S&T said it challenged industry to develop fast and accurate user-recognized biometric systems for DHS operations, such as at security checkpoints.

This year’s rally will focus on biometric data collection systems and biometric matching algorithms “that can achieve challenging performance targets for high-throughput environments,” S&T said.
