Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee released a draft of the fiscal year 2020 Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) funding bill that would see the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) get a bump in their funding.

The proposed bill would provide an increase of $7 million for the FCC over this year’s request by the Trump administration, while also being closer to appropriation levels the agency has seen in recent years.

The bill also includes $349.7 million for the FTC to “bolster antitrust and consumer protection work.” The funding would be a $40 million increase—up from $309.7 million—above the 2019 fiscal year budget.

“The bill provides increased funding so consumers can access the training and resources needed to succeed, and disadvantaged communities can achieve economic growth,” House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., said in a press release.

Overall, the proposed bill includes $24.55 billion in funding, which is $1.4 billion over the 2019 enacted budget and $355.5 million more than the White House’s 2020 budget request.
