A broad range of experts in FedRAMP, Cloud, and IT Modernization will gather at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., on June 7 to discuss the future of cloud acquisition in the Federal government. MeriTalk’s “The Modernization Movement: Cloud for Next-Gen Government” event will take an in-depth look at the trajectory of Federal cloud acquisition and what it means for government and industry.
Lending their congressional expertise, Reps. Will Hurd, R-Texas, and Gerry Connolly, D-Va., will keynote the event.
Hurd’s Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Act passed the House earlier this month and institutes a $250 million Federal technology modernization fund and revolving capital funds in each agency. Though Hurd told MeriTalk in April that he expects the conversation on funding the modernization fund to occur in 2018, a $228 million funding allocation in President Trump’s proposed 2018 budget may bring that conversation forward sooner than expected.

Connolly, an architect of the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act, will address the future of FedRAMP and Federal cloud acquisition. At the end of the event, the congressmen will convene a roundtable titled “FedRAMP Good to Great” to discuss the metrics for measuring FedRAMP success and ensuring that the program’s current momentum continues.
Attendees interested in a deeper dive into FedRAMP will also get to hear industry insight on the authorization process through the “FedRAMP: What’s Next” panel, which includes speakers from Microsoft, Deloitte, Acquia, Government Acquisitions, and Virtustream.
Additional panels will explore the intersection of IoT and the cloud, and the role DevOpps plays in creating a path to the cloud, with speakers from the department of Commerce, department of Homeland Security, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and more.
