The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has announced that they have digitized over 200 million documents to the National Archives Catalog on Oct. 26.

NARA has been working with private industry partners to get the agency to its 500 million digitized document goal by September 2026.

“In the context of the past couple of years, digital access means so much to archives and our customers,” said Digital Engagement Director Jill Reilly.

“It has been really meaningful for us to accelerate our ability to get the content the National Archives and the partners have been generating and open that up to everybody via the Catalog,” stated Reilly.

Some of the recently uploaded documents included photographs of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC, U.S. Marshal criminal bookings for 1961–1978 as well as utility patent drawings.

The agency says that they are currently in the process of modernizing its catalog and giving interested individuals a sneak peek of their work here.
