The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) a $661.6 million contract to provide digital modernization services, the company announced April 27.

The agency awarded the Virginia-based company the EPA Managed Application, Infrastructure, Networking, Enterprise, and Security Services (MAINES) task order, with the award structured as one base year with six one-year option periods.

“Technology and ingenuity are critical to furthering the government’s environmental mission,” Amy Gilliland, GDIT’s president, said in the release. “GDIT will partner with the EPA to deliver a reliable, secure, and technologically advanced IT infrastructure that will support agency initiatives fundamental to protecting human health and the environment.”

As part of the contract, GDIT will be responsible for developing and operating EPA’s enterprise IT infrastructure and application platforms. The company will also be responsible for providing cloud computing, cybersecurity, enterprise identity access management, and enterprise network and security operations.

“Supporting the EPA’s mission has been a focus of GDIT for more than 40 years,” Darby Chellis Bade, GDIT vice president for EPA programs and executive lead for climate change initiatives, said. “We are thrilled to continue this partnership and enable the EPA to operate its IT infrastructure more efficiently.”

Among the goals of the contract, GDIT plans to standardize the agency’s IT architecture, as well as incorporate emerging technologies that will provide the agency with scalability.
