The White House has released a “Rural Playbook” to help familiarize state, local, tribal, and territorial governments in rural areas with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and assist them in applying for funding under the law.

The playbook aims to help these governments gain a deep understanding of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, “so no community needs to hire a lobbyist to access their government,” the White House said.

The Biden administration is also kicking off a rural infrastructure tour throughout the month of April, traveling to dozens of rural communities to talk about the impact of the law’s investments and ensure Federal resources reach all communities in America.

“This Rural Playbook and our rural infrastructure tour are a critical part of our extensive outreach to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments to ensure the people of America can benefit from this once-in-a-generation investment,” Mitch Landrieu, senior advisor and infrastructure implementation coordinator, said in a statement.

“Building a better America requires these funds to reach rural communities that have been left behind for far too long,” Landrieu added. “We see you, and major investments are on the way. With these investments in infrastructure in rural communities, President Biden is delivering for rural America.”

Throughout the month of April, the White House said it will announce billions of funding for rural areas. The funding will include rural water projects, flood mitigation, transportation, healthcare, and tribal community grants, along with technical assistance programs for rural and tribal communities.
