Secure Critical Infrastructure: Continuing to Fuel Our Way of Life

Critical infrastructure consists of the assets, systems, and networks that provide functions necessary for our way of life. As the name implies, any threat to these sectors could have potentially debilitating national security, economic, and public health consequences.

Especially critical to America’s vital infrastructure is the energy sector, which provides an “enabling function” across all critical infrastructure sectors. More than 80% of the country’s energy infrastructure is privately owned, with the sector supplying fuels to the transportation industry, electricity to households and businesses, and other sources of energy that are integral to growth and production across the nation.

Given the urgency of protecting critical energy infrastructure, this session will feature a top cybersecurity leader at one of the nation’s largest electric companies – and will examine how to build the most secure cyber strategy possible by starting with how to find and identify currently unknown threats.
